Graduation Get Ready With Me

Graduation get ready with me is an event open to all graduating students along with their family and friends. The event will take place in the MGM Grand Garden Arena. On arrival, there is an official dress code. The ceremony for graduation lasts about 90 minutes. 

To enter the commencement ceremony graduates must wear caps and gowns. Signs balloons, noisemakers, or signs are not allowed for guests. The MGM Grand Garden Arena also has a clear bag policy.

Participation in graduation is a must. Get ready

No matter if you are attending graduation as a guest, or as a graduate there are some things you need to take care of in order to prepare. Make sure you have everything that you need. Remember to leave your clear bags and purses with a family member. 

Also, you should not bring sunglasses to the ceremony. Also, your gown and the mortarboard should be neat and clean. It is also important not to writing on your gown or mortarboard. Remember that the ceremony is a formal occasion therefore you are not allowed to carry your bags on the stage.

Participants in the ceremony of commencement must dress appropriately

There is no formal dress code, however attendees should dress modestly and elegantly for the ceremony. Graduating students should consider choosing a gown that is easy to walk in and comfortable enough for them to remain at ease throughout the two-and-a half-hour ceremony.

Shirts should be white or light-colored and skirts, pants and shoes must be appropriate for the event. Students should respect the dignity of the ceremony, and avoid wearing jewelry or other objects worth mentioning. 

Also, they should carry their valuables close to them since they will not be allowed to be carried around the field at Husky Stadium. Students who graduate with a bachelor's or master's, or doctoral degree must wear a graduation dress. Doctoral degree candidates should also be sure to wear a hood to attend the ceremony however, they should keep it separate from their gown.

Bring guests

It doesn't matter if invite family members or guests to the ceremony. It is essential to plan your event accordingly. The graduation ceremony is a formal affair and therefore, guests must dress appropriately. 

Beach balls, noisemakers, signs, and signs are not permitted during the graduation ceremony. Don't bring big bags or strollers for the ceremony and only those wearing appropriate attire are permitted.

Invitations will be sent out a few weeks prior to the ceremony. Graduates are asked to RSVP with the correct date and time. Tickets confirmation emails will be sent out to guests who register with an email address. 

They don't need to print them out however they should bring them to the ceremony. Guests are also given the graduation token to hold during the stage photo, so they should keep it with them to show their tickets.

The ceremony is $15 per guest. Each guest must have tickets and bring their own photo ID as well as an email address that is valid. It is also important to know that guest tickets are only valid for the number of guests permitted in each venue. Consequently, additional tickets cannot be purchased on the day of the ceremony.

Accessing your Grad Pass

The Bruin Grad Pass program is for UCLA graduate students. The program gives unlimited access to all local transit agencies as well as commuter lines connecting the campus. This program gives you unlimited access to the Los Angeles Metro rail system and bus lines, Santa Monica Big Blue Bus and Culver City Bus, Antelope Val Transit, Long Beach Transit and LADOT Commuter Express. It also includes the University of Southern California (USC), shuttle system.

The first step is to apply for the Local Area Credential. It requires a photograph and is valid for a year. This credential can be obtained by filling out a secure online form. Once your application has been accepted, head to the Visitor Control Center to be in the Alumni Line. 

In just a few moments the photo will be taken and you will receive your Grad Pass. Be aware that the VCC is open six days all week long, but you could be waiting for up to 60 minutes on weekends or during peak times for visits.
